Only You Can Decide The Path Worth Taking

Only YOU Can Decide Your Path!
A good life comes from making choices that help honor what your heart values most!
Sometimes we need to let go of once-valued roles in order to realign with greater purpose for a BETTER ME!!

Think Positive!
Here are a few Things to help you start a fresh outlook!

*Simple Pleasures-This year, start a journal, record atleast 4 or 5 things that you are grateful for each day.  I believe you and I will notice a huge difference in our attitude.  I believe even on days when things go wrong, this will help us to realize we have more to be thankful for than we realize!!  Remember to let go of the NEGATIVES!!

*Mind Games-When we think positive thoughts, our mind, body and everything blends better!  So when we wake up every morning "say with a smile, "Today is going to be a great day, and all is right in my world!"  We will be surprised at how powerful thoughts in repetition can make our lifes better.   What we believe truly becomes our reality!

*Big Picture-Ok Make a 3x5 card in my purse with the biggest dream written on it, laminate it if you can!  When I feel less than positive, I read the goals on it and tell myself, one day I will fullfill this goal!  Taking that moment to see the big picture reinforces that if I believed in myself to achieve something truly big and wonderful then I can easily deal with the smaller hurdles in my daily life~~

A-is for ALCOHOL hmm...   You booze you lose; A daily serve of booze may be better for keeping weight off than abstaining.  Alcohol may increase leptin, a hormone that curbs your appetite for sweets.  This is for you to decide!!
Red Wine - Heart Health benefits?

What's in Red Wine that are good for heart?
Red wine is a particularly rich source of antioxidants flavonoid phenolics, so many studies to uncover a cause for red wine's effects have focused on its phenolic constituents, particularly resveratrol and the flavonoids. Resveratrol, found in grape skins and seeds, increases HDL cholesterol and prevent blood clotting. Flavonoids, on the other hand, exhibit antioxidant properties helping prevent blood clots and plaques formation in arteries.
Red Wine - Heart Health benefits?

Written by Gloria Tsang, RD
Does red wine protect against heart disease? Maybe. Many studies investigated the benefits of red wine suggested that moderate amount of red wine (one drink a day for women and two drinks a day for men) lowers the risk of heart attack for people in middle age by ~ 30 to 50 percent. It is also suggested that alcohol such as red wine may prevent additional heart attacks if you have already suffered from one. Other studies also indicated that red wine can raise HDL cholesterol (the Good cholesterol) and prevent LDL cholesterol (the Bad cholesterol) from forming. Red wine may help prevent blood clots and reduce the blood vessel damage caused by fat deposits. Indeed, studies showed that people from the Mediterranean region who regularly drank red wine have lower risks of heart disease

Should I start drinking more red wine now?

The answer is that is up to you. Studies showed that alcohol drinking may increase triglycerides (another Bad blood lipids) and result in weight gain due to its empty calories. Other studies also suggested that alcohol consumption is associated with cancer risk. Read Alcohol and Cancer. The American Heart Association cautions people NOT to start drinking if they do not already drink alcohol. If you already drink alcohol, do so in moderation. AHA recommends one to two drinks per day for men and one drink per day for women. (A drink is one 12 oz. beer, 4 oz. of wine, 1.5 oz. of 80-proof spirits, or 1 oz. of 100-proof spirits.)

She said that when going for health, think red because of the tannins from the grape's skin. The tannins give the wine its color.

"There's said to be a lot of antioxidant properties in the tannins. Therefore, drinking a moderate amount of red wine is documented to be beneficial to a woman's health. What you want to do is stick to the deep red wines. A rose may not have as many antioxidants as a dark red wine -- a cabernet or a pinot noir," Berrocosa said.

Beyond Happy
A good, hard laugh!! An invigorating run. The perfect cup of coffee. Just a few of the many pleasures you could find enjoy any day. But when it is all over, does feeling food, however temporary, benefit us in the long run???
The answer is YES, it turns out those who experience more positive emotions cope with stress better, find more soultions to problems with more ease, and enjoy life and relationships better!!!
Positivity can produce SUCCESS and HAPPINESS!!
*Don't Overthink-So think less and feel more!
*Make Positive thoughts stick-It takes 20 seconds to register something positive, do your part to really absorb it, write it down and share it! This will keep you from obsessing over negatives!
*Assume the BEST-Thinking about what you want in life may get your positive emotions circulatting. "Instead of seeing that upcoming family gathering as a negative, think of it has having fun for yourself!!
*Ritualize Gratitude-Seeing the good in EVERY situation! Search reasons out to feel gratitude and experience them. Whenever you come to the end of something, "party, vacation, church," silently thank the place or the peopole for making in special. You'll make your endings happier and your "back to life" that much better!
I really think these are some great LIVING BETTER for Life tips for me and hopefully for you too

Power Food for the Day-TOMATO

Tomatoes are a top source of lycopene. In a large, multicenter study, researchers found that women with high levels of the antioxidant had a 34% reduced risk of cardiovascular disease, compared with women with lower levels. Those who got plenty of lycopene were also more likely to have higher blood levels of other beneficial carotenoids such as lutein and beta-carotene.

Power TIP for the Day- A power food we must eat is Asparagus
If you love asparagus, you'll really love that it's a nonstarchy vegetable with only 5 grams of carb per serving and nearly 2 grams of dietary fiber. It is also high in the B vitamin folate, vitamin C, and a health-promoting antioxidant called glutathione, says Jeannette Jordan, MS, RD, CDE, a Charleston, South Carolina-based registered dietitian and advisory board member for Diabetic Living. Glutathione may help boost the immune system and promote lung health by protecting against viruses.
The cardiovascular benefits of folate and other B vitamins have been studied in relation to homocysteine, an amino acid in the blood that has been linked to a higher risk of coronary heart disease. The American Heart Association recommends including foods containing folate and other B vitamins in your diet to help lower homocysteine levels.
So Tomorrow that is on my menu, Blessings till we meet again~ Lisa
