Bible Verse for Today
Sometimes life gets a little rough, and we all need a bit of joy in our lives. We often talk about warnings that come from the Bible, how to live or not live our lives. However, sometimes we forget that the Bible tells us to enjoy life a little bit. God did not mean for us to be sad or serious all the time. He tells us to get out and have a little fun. Here are some "happy" Bible verses to add some sunshine to what an be a gloomy day:

Psalm 27:6 - "Then my head will be exalted above the enemies who surround me; at his tabernacle will I sacrifice with shouts of joy; I will sing and make music to the LORD." (NIV)

What Can YOGA Do for Me?

 A Very Interesting Question I think for ALL of us??
What Can Yoga Do for Me??  Well That is our Blog for today, so Let's get started!!

What can Yoga do for me?
Regular Yoga Practice can offer many health benefits:

*Back pain is reduced

*Flexibility improves

*Energy levels increase

*Breathing improves

*Stress is reduced and controlled

*Confidence and self empowerment are achieved

*Mood and emotional balance is enhanced
Yoga Exercise improves both posture and breathing, which in turn benefits the circulation of the blood and the body's intake and utilzation of oxyzen.  It will increase the rate and efficiency with which waste material is excreted from the body via kidneys, bowels, skin, liver and lungs, thereby, strengthening the immune defense system in its fight against infection, cancer and allegeries.  Certain poses, such as the corpse, the fish and the plow, aim specifically to improve bowel regularity for instance.  All inhance breathing and improve blood supply to the kidneys and liver.  Yoga also boosts the body's nervous and hormonal system, and improves both flexibility and muscle tone!!!  Can't we all use that!! I know I SURE CAN!!  I use to do Yoga and it helped me so, I am started it back!! Get you a DVD and start little by little work your way up!!  Don't wait!! Start today!
IS YOGA AN EXERCISE? Traditionally in the West Yoga is seen as a form of physical exercise to gain fitness and reduce stress. This is certainly true, however Yoga is far more than that. In yoga we harness the power of our bodies but also unite this with the power of our minds.
By becoming aware of the body and the breath and how it functions, allows us to alter the way we move and breathe and ultimately the way we use our minds.

The change takes place on the entire person and affects the physical body, the mind, the emotions and the spirit.

***************************************************

Try a little experiment now.
 Come into tadasana  (Tadasana - Mountain Pose Tadasana - Begin by bringing awareness to the Surface Of The Feet.The foundation of a tree is its roots therefore bring awareness to the feet first in this yoga pose. The same force should be present in both feet. Pelvic adjustments must be made to achieve this. Evenly distribute the weight over the feet. Always try to get more of the surface area of both feet and toes to touch down on the mat or floor.The toes should be used to stabilize the body from forward motions. Sometimes the weight can fall on the outside or inside of the feet. Try to have the weight centered.)
– yoga’s basic standing pose. Close your eyes. Now try to be completely still. Completely, totally, motionless. No movement. No change. Resist any change. Is it possible? Did you find yourself holding your breath? There is no way to stay perfectly still, in tadasana or in life. Every moment is always unfolding, and all you can do is follow it and perhaps try to guide it.

       Come into tadasana again, and close your eyes. Notice how the breath moves you in tadasana. Can you feel yourself getting taller on the inhale, more grounded on the exhale? Or perhaps you feel yourself expanding on the inhale, and drawing in to your core on the exhale. Whatever you feel, whatever you notice, do it intentionally. Ride the natural change and do it on purpose.
     Yoga teaches us that everything changes – everything is always in the process of renewing, unfolding, and evolving. This is good news. It means that we don’t need to provide the energy for change in our own lives. Change is not an uphill battle – it doesn’t need to be a struggle. Everything is already always changing. We simply need to learn how to direct change and allow change to happen. Instead, most of us are struggling to prevent change – we cling to our habits and our ways of viewing the world. We may not even be doing this consciously. But if we sincerely invite change, there’s nothing that can stop it.

Hatha yoga is usually practised to maintain a healthy body, but it also promotes relaxation and is a great way to control stress. It can lower the risk of heart attack and other stress-related health issues. You will move between poses in a slow manner, with some practitioners pausing to do the "dead man's posture" several times during a session. Each time you do this you will notice subtle changes in the way your body feels.

When you get to the end of a session you will lie on your back in the dead man's posture and let yourself drift into a deep meditation as you sense all the energetic changes that have occurred in your body. On a more profound level Hatha yoga purifies the physical body as a means to purify the mind. While this is an admirable and lofty goal, you should in no way feel overwhelmed by the enormity of such a task.

Just begin your Hatha Yoga practise with the idea of improving your health and relaxing your body and mind. These goals can be accomplished by anyone even during your very first yoga class. Then, once you get the hang of this, feel free to move on to purifying the mind at your own pace! Enjoy your hatha yoga practice!

Practing Yoga, can change your life, I have found anyone that didn't try yoga, that didn't like it!! So give it a try and see how much better you feel!!  Start slow and work up, let your body respond to the breathing and stretching, give it all it needs with the uniqueness of Yoga.

Bible Verse for Today
Proverbs 4:22

For they are life to those who find them, And health to all their whole body.

The answer, after countless medical and scientific research studies, involving thousands of people, hundreds of doctors and almost a hundred years of study, is -- YES. Healthy & Positive Living Flash

Well a New Year is almost upon us and I am not making any new years resolutions other than to Live a Better Life for ME!!!  That is one BIG lumped together resolution to do better for me, no matter what I do.

The evidence can be found in a couple of recent studies. One evaluated 309 people who were having heart surgery and found that people with a positive outlook were 50 percent less likely to return to the hospital in the six months following surgery. Another, from the Women's Health Initiative, followed 97,000 post-menopausal women for more than eight years and found that those who scored highest in optimism had a significantly lower chance of developing heart disease.

How Optimism Contributes to Good Health

Just as positive thinking and good emotional health contribute to wellness, negative thinking can have adverse effects on health, such as weakening your immune system and preventing you from doing the things you need to do to take good care of yourself.

"When you are optimistic, people are attracted to you. This leads to healthier relationships, more success, and decreased emotional stress. And of course, we know that emotional stress can lead to physical illness,"

"Positive thinking reduces inflammation, which is a byproduct of stress. It is important to reduce inflammation because it stands at the root cause of disease and plays havoc with your thinking," adds Debbie Mandel, MA, author of Addicted to Stress and a nationally recognized stress management expert.

Positive Thinking: Tips for Maintaining Optimism

"To maintain positive thinking you need to pay attention to basic needs such as getting enough rest, proper nutrition, exercise, stress reduction, and heath care. It means keeping your life in balance," advises Ritvo. Here are some tips for keeping a positive outlook:
Let it out. Keeping feelings of sadness, anger, or guilt bottled up inside is unhealthy and can undermine positive thinking. Talk to a friend or loved one. Get your feelings out in the open where you can deal with them.Replace negative thinking with positive thinking. "People who are optimistic are able to reframe negatives into positives. Practicing this kind of positive spin will eventually make it automatic. Since there are no absolute truths, consider your life story. Do you want it to be a positive one or a tragic one?" asks Mandel.Learn to deal with stress. Some stress is inevitable. Learn to handle it in a positive way. "Exercise sheds stress, releases endorphins, helps you focus, creates personal empowerment, and boosts the immune system," advises Mandel. Having a good social support system, accepting change, and keeping life in perspective are other ways people can deal with stress and maintain positive thinking.Be a survivor. Life is both magic and tragic. We all have to face loss, failure, and disappointment sometimes. People who are optimistic find a way to recover. They develop resilience. "Life is a series of recoveries. When you understand this premise, you believe that you will get through your obstacles and emerge stronger with experience and empowerment to navigate the next challenge," says Mandel.Create time for fun. Positive thinking and joy go together. "Instead of an endless to-do list, pursue a creative hobby to fill any loss or grief you are experiencing. Activate your sense of fun.

Laughter is your inner treadmill and it breaks negativity instantly

Positive thinking and optimism really do contribute to a longer, healthier life. Avoid the false sense of optimism offered by drugs and alcohol. These solutions to stress only cause more problems in the long run. A recently released study followed over 6,000 students who attended the University of North Carolina in the 1960s. Of the 476 students who died during the next 40 years, those students who scored lowest in optimism had a 42 percent higher rate of death than those who were the most optimistic.

Positive thinking provides its own rewards, so take responsibility for your thoughts. As the great William Shakespeare once wrote,

"There is nothing either good or bad,
but thinking makes it so."

 I have found several interesting things for better healthy living that
I thought you might enjoy!

**Fresh Benefits- After Olive oil has been stored for six months its antioxidants are 40% less effective at fighting cell damaging free radicals, so buy small bottles, and store in a cool place!!!
**Buger Bummer-To live 'till the cows come home, designate beef-free days.  Women who eat less than 4 oz. red meat weekly survive longer than those who eat more.  Saturated fats and high cooking temps-which prouduce cancer causing compounds- may be to blame.  Go Fish~~

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Aged To Perfection
Sure when you're counting candles on a cake, age is nothing but a number.  But when it comes to putting food on your plate, how old or *young* those eats are and how long they take to grow can affect how many nutrients you'll net.
  Pick your food at it's prime.
Get it Early                                        Wait it Out
Seafood                                                Grapes
Broccoli                                              Banana
Onions                                               Tomatoes
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Look for the positive in every situation.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

This was from an ABC Report- Very Interesting
When it comes to our bodies, everyone is their own worst critic. Perhaps you’ve spent countless hours scrutinizing the length of your nose or the width of your hips. Or maybe it’s a mole on your back or the size of your feet that drives you crazy. We’re all quite good at pointing out and obsessing over our own “flaws,” but most of us have a much harder time when it comes to accepting what we were born with.

In fact, an ABC News article reported that 35 percent of women have negative thoughts about their body up to five times a day. And another report, published in the journal Psychosomatics, found that 75 percent of U.S. students are concerned with the appearance of parts of their body (and another 30 percent say they are “preoccupied” with this concern).
Not surprisingly, the study also found that having low “body-esteem” was linked to low self-esteem and symptoms of depression, anxiety and obsessive-compulsive behavior. So, accepting and, even more so, feeling good about your body is essential to feeling good about yourself and leading a happy, fulfilling life.
Just imagine: Instead of loathing each new line on your face, embracing them for the memories that made them. Instead of longing to be unrealistically thin, changing your lifestyle to support your health, and savoring every bodily curve it creates. And instead of faulting yourself for your grey hair, your large nose or your gangly arms, priding yourself on the fact that these are the things that make you unique.

***Now imagine the great rewards you’ll reap for loving yourself. Research has proven that a negative body image is draining. Among adolescents, it’s even been found to contribute to:
 Depression and anxiety
• Suicidal thoughts and behaviors
• Dissociation (blocking out emotions as a coping mechanism)
• Sexual preoccupation and distress
• Post-traumatic stress disorder
A positive body image, meanwhile, will boost your self-esteem, your sense of well-being and peace, and even your very happiness, so you’ve got nothing to lose.
How to Stop Being Ashamed and Start Loving Your Body
In their place, you’ll feel an open sense of freedom that you may not have felt before, and with that freedom from the negative you’ll start embracing the positive aspects of your body and accepting yourself fully. When you use The Sedona Method, you will no longer feel shame about your body (or any aspect of yourself). You will feel only a natural sense of warmth, peace and joy.

***The following tips will also help you to start loving your body, and, when used with the Method, make an excellent positive routine you can implement in your life today:
• Exercise and eat a healthy diet. Getting into good physical shape will improve your body shape, too!
• Get plenty of sleep each night (there’s a reason it’s called “beauty sleep”).
• Pamper yourself with a long bath, a special outing or a spa day “just because.”
• Say only loving things to yourself. Ban “I hate my thighs,” or “My behind is too big” from your vocabulary (and your mind).
• Don’t compare your body to others. Your body is one of a kind!
• Write a list of things you love about your body. Keep it somewhere handy and refer to it often.
• Give thanks for your health, your life and your abilities.
I think all the above tips will help us to improve to love ourselves!!  Stop hating this beautiful woman that God created, HE created YOU, the way he wanted to for a reason!!  Embrace IT!  LOVE yourself, You are ONE of a Kind A Special Creation From GOD!

Let's talk about your weekends, do they end being fun, exciting, doing things you want to do, travels, shopping, watching movies, having friends over, whatever your heart desires, or DO THEY end up doing NOTHING, or house work all weekend?????  We we need to change!!  We have to Fix this, we need to have some fun on the weekend too!  I think if you are a busy person, you need to make a calendar and put in when you are doing that laundry and mopping, etc, so it will get done.  Then plan some fun!  Plan a movie out, or what ever, going out with the kids and building a snowman or sledding.  Whatever season it maybe, get some fun it with who or whatever area of fun, but don't leave it out!!  It truly has been along time since I have done anything fun, my health has just been so bad I haven't felt like it but things are getting better for me and I have been having lunches out with friends, fun!!  Planning some things now!  SO you to get into planning so some fun stuff! too ok!  Lets not let our lifes pass us by and we say wow where did it go and we didn't have any fun!!!

Bible Verse For Today
Proverbs 15:1 A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger.

Have a Blessed Friday!!  Thanks so much for taking to time to come to my blog, I pray that each of you will get something from it as I do in writing it each day!  Love you and God Bless Lisa

Positive thinking is a mental attitude that generates happiness, success and favorable outcomes in every situation or action you do. The thoughts get registered in your subconscious mind and you start taking action to create favorable change.
A positive outlook can help you to cope better with stressful situations and can change your life for the better.
Why think positively?

Ever wondered why some people find learning an enjoyable and exciting experience? Why are some people disinterested and find it an unpleasant experience while others use it merely as a road to fetch a good job? The difference between these people lies in their attitude and their approach towards life. Your mindset plays a huge role in every aspect of your life.
Your mind can control your body for better or for worse. A negative mindset can mar your life while a positive mindset can make your life happy and peaceful. The choice is yours!

You cannot change your thoughts and attitude overnight. Positive thinking takes practice.
Persistence would make your mind to think positively and ignore negative thoughts. Benefits of positive thinking
Decreases stress.
Helps you cope better in stressful situations.
Strengthens your Immune System and reduces the risk of certain diseases.

Improves your self-esteem and confidence.
Brings inner peace, happiness and a sense of well-being.
Motivates you to accomplish your goals.
Helps you have greater inner strength and energy.
Helps you live longer.

Listen to your inner voice
Listening to your inner voice or instincts is one of the most common ways to develop positive thinking. Whenever any negative thoughts enter your mind, try to replace it with a constructive one. For example, “I won’t be able to do it” will be put forward as “I will do it”. Practice this regularly and you will soon be able to master your mind.
Learn to meditate
Meditation calms your mind and relaxes your body Meditation gives you inner strength, peace of mind, relaxation and a sense of bliss, which will help you to think positively.

Always see the brighter side of life
Try to believe that everything happens for a reason and embrace the concept that something good will come out of every situation that momentarily seems bad. Always look on the bright side of life and it will work wonders for you.
Learn to communicate effectively
Not saying the things you feel can give a sense of frustration, anxiety and anger, thus giving way to negative thoughts. Hence, communication is an important aspect of positive thinking.
Believe in yourself
Believe in yourself and your capabilities to become more confident. Make a positive commitment to yourself and to the people around you. Praise yourself and be enthusiastic.

Tips to positive thinking

•Be optimistic and expect favorable outcomes in every situation.

•Cultivate the habit of reading inspiring books.

•Find reasons to smile more often. It’s a great stress buster.

•Try to use positive words, e.g. “I can”, “it will be done”, “it is possible” while thinking and talking.

•Engage yourself in enjoyable recreational activities.

•Interact with people who have a positive outlook in life.

Finally…

Positive thinking needs consistent effort as you are creating a new habit. On the other hand, negative thoughts can rip your focus from your goal. There is no greater joy than living a healthy and positive life. So take charge of your mind and think positive. Remember, you are what you think

Helpful Tips for this Holiday Season in Speed Cleaning for all those Visitors

Help Make Your House Noticeably Clean

1. Act like a guest. Grab a notepad and a pen. Stand at the front door and trace the steps your guests might take through your house. Write down which rooms you encounter. This will give you an idea of exactly what areas you need to focus on.  "Your guests will have unlimited time to look around in your bathrooms," says Linda Cobb, Queen of Clean, best-selling author and television personality. "Walk in, sit down, look up, look down and around … and then clean! Be sure you have extra toilet paper and disposable hand towels during cold and flu season."

2. Gather up throw rugs and take them outside for a good shake. Then air them on a clothesline or railing for several hours.

3.Switch from tablecloths to place mats, and arrange a bowl of fruit or a vase of fresh flowers in the middle of the kitchen table. The mats are easier to keep clean — plus, if your table looks set, it’s a less likely landing pad for mail and other clutter.

4. Steam your microwave clean. Save time; work less. “Pour 2 cups of water into a microwave-safe bowl, and cook on high for 5 minutes. The steam generated will soften any cooked-on food splatters. Then, wipe down the interior with a damp sponge,” says Bredenberg.

5.  Declutter.Look through your house at a high level. Are there disorderly corners in your family room? Stacks of papers in your kitchen? Go through these items and either put things in their proper place or throw them out. Cobb recommends carrying a laundry basket throughout the house to collect things that are out of place. "Then, walk through your house and put them back where they belong. You'll be amazed at how fast and easy this is, and how neat the house will appear," she says.

6.  Focus on the scent.  After your house is clean, add touches of freshness by hiding Gain® dryer sheets all over your house. Try placing them between the couch cushions, behind bookshelves and in drawers.

Power Food :  Green Tea
This antioxidant brew is for more than sipping!

Think of green teas as the unplugged variety: though it's derived from the same plant as black and oolaong, green tea undergoes no fermentation, so it's closets to straight from the tree state.  Less processing results in a fresh, grassy-flavored drink that relatively low in caffeine- it has about 50 mg per cup compared to 175mg per a cup of coffee--loaded with cancer fighting antioxidants.  It may also help your heart by reducing levels of LDL "BAD" cholesterold and relaxing  the arteries to improve blood flow.  It also helps on cutting down on visits to the dentists, green tea might help to stave off gum disease and tooth decay, and help with bad breath.  Some studies have shown that Green tea boosts the metabolism.

It is best to buy the loose leaf teas with whole or large pieces of leaves, rather than tea bags, which tends to contains dust, left over from higher grade teas.  Tea Bags often have a harsher flavor also.  Look for handpicked label, as these teas most likely contain the prime pluck of the plant.  Store in a dark airtight container.  When brewing green tea, use near boiling water; boiling water may take away the healthy compounds.  Seperate the steeped leaves from the tea as soon as it's brewed to your taste typically 3 to 5 minutes.  A longer steep releases more, resulting a bitter flavor.

I want to start my yoga/ mediation about for ME!! It does my body so good!

I found this and thought I would share it with you
Mediation for Beginners
1.  sit in a chair and allow your body to settle.
2.  Slowly scan your body from head to toe, noticing where you feeling tight.
3. Bring your attention to your breathing, inhaling and exhaling through your nose but never forcing your breath.  Keep your mouth softly closed, your jaw relaxed.
4. Become more and more sensititive to your breath, in tune with where your body moves * and doesn't move* on the inhale and exhale*.
5.  Allow your awareness of your breath to bring ease to your entire body.  Imagine your body moving toward the earth, fully supported.
6.  Continue, observing your breath moving in and out of your body.
7.  At the end of of 15 minutes, breath deeply three times, allowing the inhale to move down to your toes and the exhale to move up and out of the topes of your shoulders.  Pause and then open your eyes.

The more times you do this, you will be able to do it with out looking and reading it and will be so relaxing to your mind, body and soul!  Do it for you for awhile and just see~~

Only You Can Decide The Path Worth Taking

Only YOU Can Decide Your Path!
A good life comes from making choices that help honor what your heart values most!
Sometimes we need to let go of once-valued roles in order to realign with greater purpose for a BETTER ME!!

Think Positive!
Here are a few Things to help you start a fresh outlook!

*Simple Pleasures-This year, start a journal, record atleast 4 or 5 things that you are grateful for each day.  I believe you and I will notice a huge difference in our attitude.  I believe even on days when things go wrong, this will help us to realize we have more to be thankful for than we realize!!  Remember to let go of the NEGATIVES!!

*Mind Games-When we think positive thoughts, our mind, body and everything blends better!  So when we wake up every morning "say with a smile, "Today is going to be a great day, and all is right in my world!"  We will be surprised at how powerful thoughts in repetition can make our lifes better.   What we believe truly becomes our reality!

*Big Picture-Ok Make a 3x5 card in my purse with the biggest dream written on it, laminate it if you can!  When I feel less than positive, I read the goals on it and tell myself, one day I will fullfill this goal!  Taking that moment to see the big picture reinforces that if I believed in myself to achieve something truly big and wonderful then I can easily deal with the smaller hurdles in my daily life~~

Red Wine - Heart Health benefits?

What's in Red Wine that are good for heart?
Red wine is a particularly rich source of antioxidants flavonoid phenolics, so many studies to uncover a cause for red wine's effects have focused on its phenolic constituents, particularly resveratrol and the flavonoids. Resveratrol, found in grape skins and seeds, increases HDL cholesterol and prevent blood clotting. Flavonoids, on the other hand, exhibit antioxidant properties helping prevent blood clots and plaques formation in arteries.
Red Wine - Heart Health benefits?

Written by Gloria Tsang, RD
 Does red wine protect against heart disease? Maybe. Many studies investigated the benefits of red wine suggested that moderate amount of red wine (one drink a day for women and two drinks a day for men) lowers the risk of heart attack for people in middle age by ~ 30 to 50 percent. It is also suggested that alcohol such as red wine may prevent additional heart attacks if you have already suffered from one. Other studies also indicated that red wine can raise HDL cholesterol (the Good cholesterol) and prevent LDL cholesterol (the Bad cholesterol) from forming. Red wine may help prevent blood clots and reduce the blood vessel damage caused by fat deposits. Indeed, studies showed that people from the Mediterranean region who regularly drank red wine have lower risks of heart disease

Should I start drinking more red wine now?

The answer is that is up to you. Studies showed that alcohol drinking may increase triglycerides (another Bad blood lipids) and result in weight gain due to its empty calories. Other studies also suggested that alcohol consumption is associated with cancer risk. Read Alcohol and Cancer. The American Heart Association cautions people NOT to start drinking if they do not already drink alcohol. If you already drink alcohol, do so in moderation. AHA recommends one to two drinks per day for men and one drink per day for women. (A drink is one 12 oz. beer, 4 oz. of wine, 1.5 oz. of 80-proof spirits, or 1 oz. of 100-proof spirits.)

She said that when going for health, think red because of the tannins from the grape's skin. The tannins give the wine its color.

"There's said to be a lot of antioxidant properties in the tannins. Therefore, drinking a moderate amount of red wine is documented to be beneficial to a woman's health. What you want to do is stick to the deep red wines. A rose may not have as many antioxidants as a dark red wine -- a cabernet or a pinot noir," Berrocosa said.
